All the way from Yorkshire UK, the original “County of Origin” of Rugby League, comes a new force to be reckoned with in the sport: the mighty Batley Girls Under 16 team.
This group of girls from a small Yorkshire town have grown up together and are ready for tough challenges on and off the pitch; but are they prepared for what's in store on the other side of the world?
Follow the story of these inspirational young women as they overcome boy (and girl) problems, friendship dramas, racial discrimination and deep-hidden family secrets, all set against the backdrop of a changing community in a diverse industrial town.
THE RUCK is an energetic story told with physical theatre and music, written by award-winning playwright Kevin Fegan and directed by Joyce Branagh.
Following THE RUCK's world premiere at the LBT, the production will tour to:

The concert will feature music spanning the length and breadth of the career of the last major band leader to emerge from the Big Band era. SK2 performs exclusively music originally played by the Stan Kenton Band, and band leader and drummer Dave Tyas has hand-picked the musicians to recreate their exhilarating sound.

It’s the 1920s. In a small Yorkshire town, the wily-widow, Rose, entertains the advances of two dubious suitors. Fuller is a fabulously rich and morally corrupt banker who woos Rose by parading his wealth whilst hiding a few secrets. Handsome Arthur is much younger and deceitful through and through. He plays Rose for as much money as she can take from Fuller.
A love triangle then; a deliciously wicked tale of rivalry and greed.
Throw in a bailiff, a drunkard, a vamp, a second-hand clothes dealer and two upwardly mobile servants, and the complications multiply.
A firm favourite with LBT audiences, Northern Broadsides (The Merry Wives, The Winter’s Tale, She Stoops to Conquer) return with an adaptation of Alain-René Lesage’s savage eighteenth century comedy Turcaret, directed by and featuring Broadsides’ Artistic Director Barrie Rutter OBE. Blake Morrison’s FOR LOVE OR MONEY is a story of monstrous wealth and whopping lies.
