Writing For Children Workshops Galore!
|
|
|
We're partnering with
two brilliant organisations in the coming months to offer five separate
practical writing workshops with bestselling children's and young adult
authors.
In early October, we’re
delighted to be running three two-hour workshops at the Bath Children’s
Literature Festival. Tessa Strickland hosts a session on writing
picture books on Tuesday 3rd October; Joanna Nadin joins us on
Wednesday 4th October to discuss writing fiction for children aged 8-12;
and YA ace Clare Furniss serves up some of the essential ingredients
in writing for teenagers on Thursday 5th October.

And in November we’ll
be running our final two evening masterclasses of 2017, each in association
with Book
Aid International, a
charity that provides up to one million brand new books for libraries in
Africa (with half of each ticket sold on the night a direct donation to the
cause).
On Tuesday 7th
November, picture book author and illustrator Clara Vulliamy joins
us to lead you through the process of working on a picture book, discussing
the importance of connecting with your childhood, and how to collect ideas
and use them to bring characters to life.
Holly Smale will then host our final evening masterclass of 2017 on
Thursday 16th November, asking you to tap into your teenager years and
think about the authenticity of your writing voice and also your dialogue
when working on your book for YA readers.

of 2017 sees us return to Plymouth and team up with literature
development charity Literature
Works for a day
brimming with practical advice from authors and literary agents.
Guests on the
day – which includes a networking lunch – will benefit from editing tips
from Man Booker long-listed Wyl Menmuir; advice on how to hook
readers with your opening chapters courtesy of bestseller Natasha
Pulley; and a gripping session on the mastery of pace and plot with
the ever-successful C.L. Taylor.
Literary agents Kate
Johnson and Juliet Pickering will also be on-hand to provide
practical tips on the submission process on a day dedicated to helping
you take your writing to the next level.
