love lies

Love, Lies and Records, Thursdays BBC1 at 9pm

A new Kay Mellor drama partly filmed in Dewsbury Town Hall has been given a prime time slot on BBC One The six-part Love, Lies and Records will be broadcast from 9pm on Thursday 16th November.
LOVE, LIES & RECORDS follows Registrar Kate Dickenson, played by Ashely Jensen (Catastrophe, Ugly Betty, Extras) as she tries to juggle her personal life with the daily dramas of births, marriages and deaths and the impact they have on her.
Joining the cast alongside Ashley Jenson are Adrian Bower (Granchester, The Last Kingdom), Kenny Doughty (Vera, Stella), Rebecca Front (Doctor Thorne, War & Peace, Humans) and Mark Stanley (Dark River, Dickensian).
Yorkshire-born Kay Mellor got the idea for Loves, Lies and Records while registering the death of her mother, saying: “When I was waiting to register the death of my mother at Leeds Town Hall, I was next to a couple who were waiting to register the birth of their much wanted baby girl"
Filming took place at Dewsbury Town Hall from February until June and used the Main Hall, Foyers, Offices and Function Rooms.

Rich Hall's Hoedown

rich hall

Cleckheaton Town Hall, Wed 6th June 2018

The Hoedown begins as a withering dissection of Trump’s America, but ends up being a celebration of Americana. There’s stand-up, improvised ballads, cracking good musicianship, and ultimately a hilarious, foot-stomping, kicking good time to be had by all. Even if you don’t own a hoe. Rich Hall’s critically acclaimed new show begins its second leg of touring. There has never been a better time to be an American comedian in the UK. Hall’s precision dismantling of the tenuous relationship between two countries is as freewheeling and deadly accurate as ever.

His BBC Four documentaries, most recently Rich Hall’s Countrier Than You and Rich Hall’s Presidential Grudge Match and BBC Radio 4 series Rich Hall’s (US Election) Breakdown have built him a new legion of followers, as has appearances on Have I Got News For You and QI. But if you’ve only ever seen Hall on TV, you’ve short-changed yourself. Tickets £17
