Spring Is Here @ Seven

It may still be snowing outside but spring is definitely here at Seven. Tonight, Thursday 8 March, 7.45pm, in this International Women's Day special, JazzLeeds presents Georgia Mancio and Kate Williams ‘Finding Home’. Award-winning vocalist/lyricist, Georgia Mancio, once again flexes her multi-lateral creativity. £16 /£14 conc. Doors 7.30pm.

Tomorrow, Friday 9 March, 7.30pm, is a stunning production, South Asian Arts UK – The Moonwatcher. Beautifully told through masks, puppetry, spoken word and original music, The Moonwatcher is the story of Rahmi, a young Pakistani girl who travelled half way round the world to Britain to be with her husband. £10 /£6 conc, £20 Group of 4.

Tumbleweed Americana returns on Saturday 10 March, 8.30pm, with Bronwynne Brent touring as a trio with guitarist and producer of ‘Stardust’, Johnny Sangster and bass player, Mario Caribe. Born and raised in the Delta, she has the kind of stop-in-your-tracks voice that sounds like Southern sunshine. Perfect in this cold spring weather. £11 adv /£13 otd. Doors 8pm

On Sunday 11 March, 1.30- 4pm, celebrating their prize-winning success at Bucharest Jazz Competition, the JazzLeeds concert is Victor Guttierez and Miriam Ast. Both graduates of the prestigious course at the Royal Academy of Music, the duo of Ast and Gutierrez will perform an intimate set. £10 /£8 conc.

The Screen Seven movie on Monday 12 March, 8pm, is Interlude In Prague. The film is set in 1787 and follows a few turbulent months in Mozart's life that influenced the creation of Don Giovanni. The composer, brought to Prague by the vain and self-obsessed Baron Saloka, falls in love with the beautiful soprano Zuzana Luptakova, who is betrothed to Saloka, with devastating consequesnces. £6 on the door.

On Tuesday 13 March, 7pm, CafĂ© Cinematique explores Lady Macbeth, an adaptation of Nikolai Leskov’s 1865 novel, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, itself of course inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The film screening will be followed by a discussion about one woman’s ruthless determination to express herself.  £8 on the door.

This month's Seven Live on Wednesday 14 March, 8pm, features country rock band, Ade Payne And The Wild River Band. Plus special guests, Matthew Sturgess (of The Silver Reserve) and Lisa Marie Glover. £7 on the door.

On Thursday 15 March, 7.30pm, is Relatable, a collection of 5 short plays written by millennials and performed by actors who aren’t. The writers are all students at the University of Leeds who have not had work performed professionally before. £7.

On Friday 16 March, 7pm, Snakebox presents PLAY. Snakebox represents an artistic collaboration between Akeim Toussaint Buck & Otis Jones and PLAY is an interactive live creation inspired by audiences’ response and input. The audience and the performers, indulge their sense of PLAY while Akeim & Otis guide a controlled participatory experience. £5.

Rounding off the week on Saturday 17 March 7.30pm is Ozgen – A Bellydance Cabaret, a glittering, intimate evening of oriental dance, starring international bellydancer, Ozgen. Look forward to a night filled with a diverse range of Turkish, Middle Eastern and Western music. £12 / £8 conc. £15 otd.
